NGO

ECF

Over 16 years, ECF has successfully demonstrated a holistic and cost-effective approach to educating some of the poorest and most marginalized children.  At the ECF Children’s Village and School, free public education, including books and uniforms, is provided together with free primary health care and basic school feeding, on a secure campus to vulnerable and at-risk children.  These services are provided in a socially innovative and financially cost-effective manner.
ECF is committed to sustainability.  It has a farming operation on site to generate resources and become more self-sufficient.  It promotes environmental conservation by recycling waste and using a biogas facility for cooking energy.  It undertakes tree planting in support of re-forestation.

Empowering the African Vision

Seeds of Africa is a nonprofit organization educating the next generation of Ethiopia’s leaders and empowering their mothers to become entrepreneurs. Our programs aim to provide students, families, and their larger networks in the city of Adama with the resources they need to alleviate poverty, support themselves and reinvest in their local community.

Seeding Education promotes a STEM-based (science, technology, arts & mathematics) curriculum that encourages self-expression, logical and relational development and positive communication, while also providing nutritious meals, access to healthcare, and school supplies. Sowing Community empowers the mothers, grandmothers, and female guardians of our students with language and financial literacy guidance, seed loans and technical support to help them start and grow their own businesses.

Empowering Ethiopian women through education doesn’t only help those individuals but the entire society. Higher education as key to economic development and ultimately the escape from poverty – that is what we have dedicated ourselves to. Increasing the skill and knowledge level of women is our ultimate goal in order to enable them to live an independent and self-determined life.

Besides this project goal in Ethiopia, the PROJECT-E team in Europe has its agenda as well: Empowering others to empower ourselves. We are all students and young professionals working voluntarily in our free time for this goal – we all share great responsibility in young years which allows us to develop our skills in leadership, project management and determination. Hopefully, we can continue motivate young people from all kinds of background to get involved – there is no better way of challenging yourself and investing in your personal development.
